Can I browse without an account?
Public products and stores can be browsed without an account. Creating or contributing products, stores, prices, reviews, corrections, notes, or reports requires sign-in.
Why does ShopMate ask for camera access?
Camera access is optional and used only after you start live barcode scanning. You can continue using other ShopMate features if you deny the permission.
Why are approximate and precise location separate?
Approximate location supports user-initiated nearby-store discovery. Precise location is requested separately only if you choose to pin an unlisted store. ShopMate does not use background location.
Does ShopMate upload my receipt?
The receipt-scanning workflow processes a photo-picker image and recognizes its text on device. The raw receipt and raw OCR output are not uploaded by that workflow. Only information you review and deliberately submit can become a community contribution.
Why might a product or price be missing or old?
ShopMate uses community observations and provider-backed data that may be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable. Check the displayed timestamp and confirm important prices with the store.
How do I report incorrect or inappropriate content?
Use the available in-app report action for the applicable contribution. If that is not possible, email support with a description of the record. Avoid sending sensitive personal information.
How do I delete my account?
Use the account-deletion action in ShopMate Settings, or follow the public instructions at jvtechnologiesllc.com/shopmate/account-deletion/.
